Swan Song@!

I have always loved Natalie Portman and after seeing her in Black Swan I bow at her on point feet!!!! I got home a little while ago after watching it and I'm still stunned and shocked. Truely amazing! I wanna go see it again....I'm in awe. Awe struck

Friendships...well actually F#@* buddies

Lately I've experienced something that I haven't encountered since elementary or middle school. Three different people ended their friendships with me. To be totally honest they were a little more then just friends. I'd call them buddies! But I thought as grown adults people were supposed to work out their differences and save the friendship. I can't remember the last time that ever happened. It used to be cause I was gay but these supposed "friends" were gay too. So what does that say about me? Well, I've changed. I no longer have the same tastes for men that I used to. It changed when I thought what it would look like if I brought someone home that was closer to my dad's age then to mine. I now look for guys that are my age so that we can go through similar things together and that old saying of growing old together! Plus focusing on some addictions I may have has made me rethink what I want in a relationship. I used to think it was always about chemisty but now I also want a more emotional connection.

July Highlights

-4th of July weekend which consisted of a pool party where I met a guy that resembled Kenny Chesney. I then went to a bigger pool party up in the hills of Riverside where I met a sexy looking surfer with long blond hair except he was a bodybuilder who is hoping to become a professional athlete. He's really my type and he just added me as a friend on myspace. I can't believe anyone still uses myspace! July 5th was a continuation of the 1st pool party.

-Working

-Skating

-My brother and his family from Portland came to Disneyland so I took a bus down there to see them. We went to the hotel pool, had dinner at Rainforest Cafe where my neice was scared of the thunder, and then I got snuck into California Adventure. We got to ride Soarin' California, Tower of Terror and dance in the street. My Grandma just informed me that dancing in the street was my nieces favorite highlight! Ahhhh

Farewell!

Today one of my flings is moving to San Francisco. I'm not as sad as I thought I would be but who knows when I'll see him again. Over the few months I've known him he's had multiple names including Herher, Mr. Big and a@$h0*e! But at the same time I waited to go to certain places like Disneyland and 6 Flags Magic Mountain with someone I like which we did together. It was the first time for both of us at each place so that felt special. I'll see him soon and go to the Opera for the first time with him someday soon. Be sure to take care of Mr Wrinkles for me!! =)
Good luck and bye for now....

Action!

Instead of just saying I want to audition for figure skating tours and doing nothing. Starting today I'm going to practice more and get better so that I can prepare for an exciting career of skating aboard Royal Caribbean cruise ships.

How much more Sex?!?

So a few days ago I took 2 of my bestfriends in LA to see Sex and the City 2. It was their first time to see it but my 4th!!!! I really want to buy a bootleg copy in Santee Alley! =) I'm seeing this guy before he moves so we should be having sex right? Well, it's been weeks since we've done anything but kiss! Hummmmm

Extra Extra!

So yesterday I was an extra on a movie that was shot at the ice rink that I work at. A few days ago when I worked for a friend of mine I was asked by a crew memeber if we had enough skates for 150 extras. I responded that that would be no problem. Later before I left I asked him if I could be an extra. He told me what time to show up and sure enough I did. Even though I almost forgot until a friend of mine texted me and reminded me about it. It was so fun and ended up being so worth it cause I was able to meet the choreographer of the Royal Carribean Cruise ships skating productions. This has been a goal of mine to audition with them since I started working at ice rinks with Willy Bietak at Pershing Square. I'm so excited and pumped to get my audition package off to her or anyone else that I would need to contact in this process to hopefully be cast as a skater on a CruisE SHIP!!! =) Wouldn't that be amazing, it be one of my dreams come true.

A Propsal

Marriage has always seemed the destination I've been trying to reach. But tonite on my way home from buying a sandwich right outside my building someone said, "Marry Me!" Well, I was about to do what I always do when people try to talk to me around the area I live but I stopped and thought how I've always wanted a man to say that so I turned around and said, "That is so sweet. Thanks for the offer, but no." I guess I'm picky!

Writer....Psych.....???

Everytime I see Carrie Bradshaw I remember why I want to be a writer. Her and I are so similiar. I've been giving advice to my frineds especially when I got to college. I'm really Charlotte though too because I'm very old fashioned and traditional. I've realized living in LA that I'm very traditional. So I've already seen Sex and the City 2 twice. The first time was the midnight showing at the Santa Anita Mall AMC with a girlfriend that I skate with. The second was Thursday night with a man I'm crazy for but not matter how much I'm crazy for him and how much I am kind and generous, he won't extend some of the same kindnesses to me. Like how tired we both were after the movie but he didn't let me sleep at his place for a couple of hours. Instead I waited for the bus for 2 hours and got home at 5:30, big thanks for that! Two hours was lots of time to think about what I am and what I want to be and what I want to do. Do I really want to be a therapist and help people with their problems. I already love to do that with my friends and listen, I've become such a better listener then I used to be. It was always about me and what's happening with me. Now I try to be better at both. I would love fame and fortune but by doing what??? Talk show tv host, writer, skater, fashion stylist or designer....there's so many things I want to do but how to decide on one, damn it's so crazy and hard to just do one. I havne't gotten any pics to add to this yet but thought I better get a new blog up cause I've been getting that I'm not posting enough. I'll try to be better and posting blogs more often!! Thanks for reading and following, G

Pride

For one of the first times ever after spending a weekend at Long Beach Gay Pride I feel like not going the next year. For me that's so out of character! Saturday and Sunday I pretty much volunteered the whole time. When I did get to escape the ticket booth I madeout with a muscle guy. And when the whole event was over and pretty much empty I made out with one of my first latino men with big muscles from Laguna Beach! I guess it wasn't boring in that sense but because I was volunteering both days the whole time I felt gaged up....literally! We were selling tickets behind a metal fence. I got to see one of my old buddies and the other day he called and asked why I hadn't blogged in a while. There's a perfect Galen moment that he witnessed while we were walking to buy smokes. I took off the volunteer t-shirt and wanted to throw it over my shoulder but that's exactly what happened. It went over my shoulder and landed on the cement instead of my shoulder. A quote from fraternity brother, "Love to love Galen."

Oh...and thanks to the asshole who cropped this man out of my picture!

It's almost here! I can't wait so I thought I'd show you all the ads I've seen for my favorite up coming movie besides Dear John, which I still wanna see!

I'm gonna keep taking pics of all the posters I see throughout LA until I may have all of them, LOL =) So here's 4 more I found today, Monday, May 10!

Got Coffee?

Something really funny happened to me as I was leaving for school today. I was infront of my building having a cigerrette and a mug of coffee. Some homeless guy walks by and says, "Hey man, share your beer with me." I thought what the hell I don't have a beer. I looked at him and said, "This is coffee!" He goes, "Oh!"

Duh!

Cherry Pop!

Sometimes I have the funnest nights in LA! Like tonite, I just got home at 4am and I'm completely sober! MORNING ;) So I went with a group of guys and we started out the night at Ultra Suede. I've lived in LA for 6 years now, but that was my first time going there. (it's a really popular club and I usually don't go cause there's a cover. I don't like to pay covers!) I had so much fun dancing to really good pop music. There was a really good performer to called KingUQueen.com When we went back there later they were playing really good rap music!! Next we decided to go see the hot dancers at Here, I was just litterly pulled along (most of the time). I had my 5 out to pay the cover but I think the Spaniard slipt me in. I saw Louis from Dancing with the Stars there. He's still in the competition but none of us could remember who he's dancing with this season! I know it's not Shanon Dhorety, I think it's Pamela Anderson. Then we were able to hit Abbey cause the line wasn't as long as it was when we started out the night around 11:30. Standing next to the fireplace was so nice. I met a couple there that were celebrating 6 years together! Wow =)
We went back quick to Ultra Suede and danced to the rap music I mentioned before. BIGGY! We left and were gonna go to the afterhours at Mickey's but someone I like decided it was late. So we took a walk, caught a cab to his place, then I walked some more and got a bus back home. When I ran into my friend from the GLAAD Awards that helped me have such a fun time. Sorry those pics from the GLAAD Awards sucked so bad, I hate my cameraphone! We had so much fun chatting on the bus. He told me he loved reading my blog. Thank you! ;) And now it's time to wash my bronzer off and get some sleep. Nite....or good morning!??!!

And be sure to check out the new trailer I just saw on youtube.com under Sex and the City 2. Cu in the United Arab of Emirates! Oh, and who's Stanford gonna get married to?

Spring Breaks Over!!

Last night was horrible! Some girls and I went out with last night were waiting in the cold rink for 2 hours. I did get to meet a locally famous person but that seemed to be the only exciting thing. Two of us couldn't get into the club cause it wasn't an 18+ night!! We took them to a friends place to hangout, went back to the club and then there was a $15 cover. I never pay a cover so I immdiatly turned and left, there were some ughhh but I will not pay to go to a hetero bar with greasy hollywood wanna be's!!! Sorry but I won't. Happy Spring Break but now that's over. Back to classes, tests and papers I haven't started!

I was stressing myself out about a test I had today and for nothing cause I kicked ass on that test! I wanna get really good grades this semester but I think I'm so used to not doing so well on tests cause of my previous experince during my years at the Univesity of Kansas but I'm doing really well. I do procrastinate and cram last minute but there were some questions I knew so well I didn't want to go back over them and just focus on the ones I didn't know as well. And I started on the second half of the test where my harder questions were instead of from beginning to end.

MEN...and my girls!!

I took two girlfriends to Tigerheat with me on Thursday night. We had such a great time and it didn't hurt that I got picked up by what I thought was the most beautiful guy there. Unfortunatly I had my friends car key so thank God they got home alright and then I gave her back her key Friday night and then she drove me to Simi to stay the night with another guy. Yes, I'm being very safe and haven't had my version of sex with either of them!

So I'm studying for a test on Monday and it's all about dysfunctional familys and the problems they cause. So, I find it really sad that I'm seeing a guy and knowing that it's so dysfuntional. We argue about politics all the time, he calls me names and I don't really see the point of dating him. Why do we do things we know we shouldn't be doing??

A Quite Baisakhi Weekend

Friday night after skating a friend of mine drove me to meet up with a friend and his family for Friday Night Pizza. The highlight was playing RockBand with his nephews and rocking the tamberine!! Happy birthday Diane. Thank goodness I remembered I had an appoitment in WeHo Saturday afternoon before working Saturday night with the most annoying supervisor there is. A little teenager-punk-ass-dork who doesn't know shit! Can you tell there's anger there and that I really don't like him. I was gonna say "hate" been then someone would say it's bad to hate someone! When I woke up Sunday morning to go to work my right arm from my shoulder to my fingers was numb including my feet, it hasn't happened since so it must have been how I slept but I was really scared for a minute as I was trying to bring back feeling in my arm. As I got back downtown from working on Sunday afternoon there was an Hindu Parade for Baisakhi. I had never seen so many Indians before in one place! There were so many cute little children with turbans.

My Trip to Beverly Hills!!

On the bus yesterday it was like a live American Idol! The bus was completly quite except this guy that had headphones in and singing, not well either. I was catching a bus out of Beverly Hills cause since it's spring break I finally had a whole day that I could spend walking around looking in stores that I had on a list! I first went to Neiman Marcus to look at Tom Ford's line, my fashion idol. Then Tiffany's to look at potential wedding rings for when that day comes. They were in the first display case when I walked in so I didn't need to look around the rest of the store. Then looked at Bvalgari and David Yurman's jewlery display windows cause I would love to have a ring with my birthstone for my right pinky finger. Across the street I could see that Tom Ford is opening a store on Rodeo....I can't wait to see that store, it will be amazing!! Then I went into Gucci to look at sunglasses, wallets, shoes and cloths on the second floor. I also got on the customer list, thanks for that Mark! I then finally made it to the Ralph Lauren store cause I've been wanting to go there since February when he had designed the Winter Olympic Team uniforms. There was a perfectly beautiful all-american employee that I wanted to talk to but sometimes I'm really shy and then got to see the bag that I want. I can't take getting used to a backpack for school, I just can't do it cause I've been carrying a bag for almost 3 years. The last store I went into is my all time favorite, Club Monaco. It's been my fav since I moved to LA cause it was the first time I had seen the store. Club Monaco is kinda like Banana Republic but more fitted with beautiful and interesting detailing. I also found out through an employee that it's owned by Ralph Lauren! I think I'm gonna redo my look with some financial aid money! Right now it's a very Cally casual classic look, with flip-flops mostly from Hollister and Abercrombie, my other all time favorite store. Oh, the things I used to do for the Abercrombie boys!! =)

-I'll add a photo of the man singing on the bus later

If I decide to change the blog title and you read this post give me some suggestions.

-Confessions from Skid Row
-Galen's Gay from Skid Row

P.S. I want Skid Row in the title!
P.P.S. and if you read my blog sign-up as a follower, thanks! =)

Betseyville

Within the past week or two I have seen a huge explosion of the amount of Betsey Johnson bags I see women carrying. I wonder if their sold out at Loehman's where I always see her bags marked down to about half the original price.

Identity

I've been living in LA for about 6 years now and I think I'm tough and adabted but I'll always be really naive. So here's where I'm going with this. The Gold's Gym in West Hollywood is notorious for being the home away from home for gay porn stars. I've known this for a few years. So when there was an amazingly huge and gorgeous personal trainer in my health class I was in love immediatly. I mean huge, his arms are the size of my thighs!! So one day when I was playing around on facebook I came across what I knew had to be a picture of him on accident. I immediatly saved it always thinking I'll have to post the pic on my blog. The next day I did some more search on him and discovered he's a Colt Model. Colt is a very well known porn production company. But then I thought, well there would go my chances of being anything more then friends with him if I posted it on my blog. Well, the day has come that I'm going to put it in a blog because if you do porn you obviously want people to see you in any media because isn't that what they want. He's not on my friends list and if he does see this I hope we can still be friends cause I think your smart and gorgeous and we'd have fun splitting each other in half! Colt even makes a life size replica if you know what I mean...

Ricky Martin comes out!!

Congratulations to Ricky Martin for opening up about his sexuality. The whole gay community knew this for a very long time but I'm glad he took his time and came out when he was ready and not because he was forced. Yay for Ricky

Scott and I were just listening to him earlier on our way to lunch, how ironic!!

Chinese Firedrill

Chinese firedrill…will not quite. This morning at about 8am must have been the day to test the fire alarm about 10 or more times. I lost count and did a pretty good job of sleeping through them until there was a real one at straight up 11am.

Bus Ride through Hollywood

You never know what you'll see when your on the bus, especially in Hollywood. So this passenger got on with a very interesting...hat I'll call it. I'll guess he was also homeless and as he made his way to the back of the bus he was saying, "Sorry, I'm a shithead. I know, I'm a shithead." I thought, you know what I'm gonna take a picture and I wasn't the only one. A tourist and I took pictures. Now, it's a really shitty picture cause he then bent over but the red and yellow...thing is his hat!

Feel the Steel

Monday nights at House of Blues has become almost a regular event for me on Monday nights. One of my girlfriends from skating knows "people." We get to talk a lot with the lead singer and the guitar player. I'm gonna include some pics I took but they suck so I'm also gonna post some of the professional ones from there website. Enjoy the "shock-her!"

Big Kansas Fan!!

So I was just logging onto Yahoo to check my email and the lead story was No. 1 Kansas got eliminated by UNI! Alright I am a huge Kansas fan cause that's where I went to college from 99-02. I didn't graduate and flunked out of the School of Journalism cause I was taking a course in the summer to catch up so I was much more concerned about hanging out at my pool drinking beer and well drinking more beer out at bars. Hello, it was one of the biggest party school in the country which my mom warned me about but that didn't convince me to stay and go to GCCC. Hell no i wanted out of small town Kansas. So, here's my point. I'm a big Kansas Jayhawk fan but I had the wrong time of when the game would start. On the KU Athletics page it had the start time in Central Time, fuck!! Rock Chalk Jayhawk

Blades= LA's Gay Hockey Team

Two weeks ago today I saw the LA Kings lose. But in the more important game I wanted to see the Blades had a shut-out. Ah, who cares what their team was called. The queers killed the straights, not the other way around. And I got to meet and flirt with the one I wanted to so all in all a really good night!

Is Mickey's Bar in WeHo cool?

So I think Mickey’s is really fun. I think gay people in LA just like to say that Mickey’s is over but if you go you bump into friends you know and end up having a really good time. I think people think it’s cool to say that just because if you say you like Mickey’s the gays in this town would think your not cool or something.

One of the first good friends I met in LA was dating someone that worked at Mickey’s. His boyfriend kicked him out of the house the shared with nothing. He became homeless. He told me lots of horrible stories that I won’t share here but when the fire closed Michey's for almost a year I thought what a sign that Karma exists.

Happy St Patty's Day from Downtown LA Skid Row

I got pinched once today during my ballet class. I was stretching with one leg in the air and this girl pinched the back of my thigh for not wearing green!

My First Blog from Skid Row!! ;)

Well, well well. I finally have brought myself a computer and successfully am hooked upto the internet in my apartment. Slow in getting caught up with the technology age I’m glad I won’t be needing to go to the downtown public library anymore where so many of the homeless in LA spend their days doing hooker baths. Am I an elitist? I don’t think so. I wonder what my friends would say? Now that I’m going back to school, I wonder if majoring in drug and alcohol counseling is the right fit. I really want to study crystalmeth and its affects on the gay community. As I meet new friends and talk about my life everyone is shocked to find out I call Skid Row home. Skid Row is in downtown LA where heroin, crack and marijuana are available right around the corner or in your neighbors apartment. Almost all of these facilities are supposed to be drug free. There old hotels converted into very small apartments by SRO but the reality is very different from the leases residents signed. And I was one of them. For over a year I used meth and was able to pass every drug test. Once, with the help of cider vinegar. Newly sober I live a much different lifestyle now. When I’m walking around downtown I blend into the loft living crowd. You know those trendy hipsters with money. I don’t look like the typical person living on Skid Row!
